Thanks for the comments.  While I admit I have put adhesive backed sheets between plain paper being shredded, that gum is still going through, being chopped into tiny pieces.  Since a shredder is an expensive piece of equipment, I don't want to wreck it by gumming up the grinding blades.

 

But if you haven't wrecked your shredders, then I'll go for it.
