I was watching Bob Mackie's 2 hour show yesterday and I had added 3 items in my cart with the intention of buying at the end of the presentation. When it was over, everything was gone and 2 items had sold out, so I am kinda ticked off......

I've had that happen as well. Some others here may have an exact answer, but I've been told that putting something in your cart does not hold it. You must complete the purchase before it is actually 'reserved' for you.
Also, using what is commonly known as 'check hold' by completing the transaction using the check option will not secure the item for us either. If they get more cc orders, your check held item will be sold right out from under you. That has happened to my mom repeatedly, and she mails her checks out the day of the purchase.
Some folks have also posted here that an item in your cart only holds it for so many minutes, but I don't know that to be correct.
Q, could you respond to these issues and give us exact answers?

There is a note of warning that appears near the beginning of the checkout process that any items left in your cart for more than an hour will be moved, making them available for purchase to others. I have added something to my cart, forgotten to complete the order, and come back three days later to see the item being held for me. That item was obviously not a sellout. If I'm buying a popular item that looks like it will sell out, I complete the purchase right away because I don't trust that they wouldn't let someone else take my item in that first hour. Have you ever noticed that some items completely sell out and then the next day it is available in limited quantities? I think that's because people put them in their cart and then remove them overnight before completing the purchase.

I find it better to order the item right away, then if I change my mind, cancel it (probably later that same day). I don't do that often, however. Probably a good thing, since I understand that QVC sends "the letter" to those who cancel too many times!!!! (Never could understand that.)

This may not make sense, however, just because you put something in your cart does not mean that item was purchased. You can go back and see if that item is now wait listed and put it in your cart and let QVC know to ship when new inventory arrives.

They clearly state your items will be held for one hour. Then they are released and anyone can buy them.

I believe your cart gets dumped after an hour of inactivity. If you add another item to the cart within 59 minutes, it keeps the cart "active." I have kept a cart going for longer than an hour by periodically adding to it (during events like FFANY Shoes on Sale.) It has always worked for me, but I keep a close eye on the clock.
