How does an auto delivery item end up on backorder?

In the summer I ordered some WEN on auto delivery and my next shipment was supposed to be this month.

I just noticed in my order status that it is on backorder. What the heck QVC? You had months to acquire the needed products for shipment. And add to that the number of people who cancel their auto deliveries and I don't see how you could have such poor planning.

The 'flavor' I chose is supposed to no longer be available (at least on Q...Fall Apple Spice), it is the only one that I really like and I will be sorely disappointed if this doesn't come through.

@Mominohio  You should ask in the Customer Care forum.

I asked a similar question about As Is items (see my thread below) and a Mod didn't know but found out quickly for me  (Mod Susan).  It was useful knfo.

Yes, that's a head-scratcher.  I think Q would be able to accurately forecast needs on auto-delivery items and thus keep them in stock.  Maybe they need to contact you about your flavor of choice, Fall Apple Spice, and ask your pleasure since it's no longer carried.

@Mominohio  -  That happened to my one time for a ham we had on AD.  I thought the same thing, how does that happen???  It did get resolved though, and we had our ham in time for Easter.  Hope it gets worked out for you.

It seems as if many of my AD's come directly from the manufacturer rather than out of QVC's warehouses.  I haven't had a WEN order for 18 months now because I'm determined to use up what's already here and I don't remember who sent me that last order.  If the AD's come directly from WEN, it could also show a manufacturing problem on their end

@millieshops

Good information. I hadn't thought about it coming directly from the vendor or manufacturer. I know Q does that sometimes, and that could be an issue!
