🤔 Valerie isn't teaching me a thing about decorating that I don't already know from experience.

Her style is to overload, and convince you to buy it all if you want things to look ever so pretty, and make your home look exactly like Casa Parr-Hill.

I want my home decorated for Christmas, or any other holiday, tastefully, and not overdone. Whether new or old, I prefer items that have special meaning and happy memories for family and dear friends. When people enter, I want them to know that there is a family who lives here, gathered together to celebrate love and closeness, to celebrate what Christmas is all about.

I don't ever want someone to walk into my home, and think that this place looks like just another Christmas gift shop.

Good for you that you feel your taste is superior to anyone else's.  I'm sure there are plenty of people that would happily disagree with you.  Having said that, you can have special meanings and happy memories regardless of how one chooses to decorate.  To you, Valerie's style is overload, to others it's just perfect.

Yes, everyone has a right to their own opinion, but when the opinion infers, in a smug and rude way, that what or how someone else chooses is not good enough, then that's what I would call self-serving.

I taught special education for 28 years before retiring three  years ago, and one thing that I made sure to teach and instill in them was the importance of treating everyone with respect.

@ciao_bella Well said!! Thank you!

Last year Valerie's Starry Night hurricanes sold out, black being the first and orange shortly after.

The last Valerie TSV hurricanes also sold out this year.

I haven't checked lately, but the Pumpkin sold out in three colors...the ivory, bronze, and orange.

In comparison, when the Scott Brothers had a recent VERY Valerie like Lantern TSV, none of them sold out, even though some claimed they were less "cutsey."

Valerie must be doing something right and you don't stay on the Q for 30 years if you aren't.

I think the difference between Valerie's items and the Scott Brothers is QVC tries to position the Scott Brothers at a level higher than Valerie's.  They always price the Scott Brother's items more expensively.

Their lantern TSV received high ratings, even at their higher price point.  We don't know the total number made for sale, but yes, they all still seem to be available today.  I was one who thought they were delightfully less cutesy than the offerings from Valerie.

I have never been the least bit tempted at Valerie's homespun items.  But I did love her starry night hurricanes.  All in all, I enjoy watching her shows even though I'm not buying.

I like Ballard Designs holiday decor the best.  But their prices are outrageous.
