QVC is not laying off HSN workers. QVC does not own HSN.
Both companies are part of the Quarte Retail Group which own many different companies such as Zulily, Frontgate, Garnet Hill, Grandin Road, Ballard Designs and Improvements.
QVC is laying off 350 HSN workers. Not so much of a merger, more like an acquisition with the acquired company on the losing side. And we're off!
@Johnnyeager I read an article on another forum referencing the QVC layoff and the article stated Qurate was merging warehouses after the HSN and Zulily acquisitions...shutting down the QVC Lancaster warehouse and hiring for the Bethlehem site. This is never good news for the workers and the end of the year timing stinks (for lack of a better word). I hope they have a plan that will not devastate a community when they implement these changes.
@Johnnyeager this information was shared by @ Sunshine45 on another forum: Just Sharing and hopefully it will fill in some of the details of the layoff!
Qurate plans 2,000 layoffs, will shut QVC Lancaster warehouse, hire 1,200 in Bethlehem
Qurate Retail Group, the West Chester company that owns the QVC home-shopping service, plans to shut its QVC warehouse in Lancaster and end more than 2,000 jobs over the next two years as it moves to consolidate its recent purchases of St. Petersburg-based TV-shopping rival HSN and Seattle-based online-shopping service Zulily.
