I agree it is not junk, I am sure some people will pay the price if they really want something. I remember the prices of Judith Ripka pieces that were gold over silver very pricey but people love her brand and would purchase.

If it was set in all silver, that would be okay. When it is plated with gold, it will be junk when the gold wears away and exposes the silver, and eventually it will.
I have had quite a few jewelry pieces that had the gold wear off...after that, the pieces were too ugly to wear.
And, yes, all gold does wear. If you wear a real gold wedding ring, it will get thinner on the underside after you wear it for a while. I have had to have my wedding set repaired three times already because the ring got too thin.
