@RescueLover - I always go directly to my Synchrony account to view statements and make payments online. If you have not recently logged into the Synchrony website, a few changes have been made this year requiring stronger passwords, and they rolled out an updated user experience approach that resulted in a new URL/link for the site (this allows cardholders to use a single login even if they have multiple Synchrony-issued cards). I'm guessing this is the reason for the message you saw.
Try going to id.synchrony.com/idp/en/standard/registration to make sure your account has been fully registered in the new system setup. (There is an FAQ link on this page if you want to learn more about the updates.) You will be guided to either register using the new login requirements or to simply log in (and possibly update your password) after you confirm your account number. It sounds like you use the site fairly regularly, so everything will probably look the same after you've logged in; if you have multiple Synchrony accounts, you will see a couple of differences, but the navigation continues to be simple and offers a few enhancements to easily access your account details.
This is all completely legitimate, was advertised well in advance of the updates, and has been in place for several months. If you have any questions, post here, and I'll be happy to help if I can. Good luck!

@geezerette I had a Stein Mart MasterCard that was with Synchrony. Stein Mart closed and the card was still valid. I continued to use it for gas, groceries, etc. just as I had before. When it expired a year or so later, the new card no longer said Stein Mart of course. But it was my same account. I've never had issues or problems with Synchrony - maybe because I never carry a balance, I don't know. I just make my payment online every month and have no other interactions with Synchrony.

ETA: I just entered synchrony.com/signin in my browser address bar, and the link was redirected to the login page associated with the process I described above. So you should definitely be all set.

The QCard is a store card--only valid for purchases on QVC and HSN. So if they no longer exist the QCard has no use.
