Re: GLAMorial Day????? How offensive!

Sounds murky. A lot of people associated with QVC. I still stand by glamour and Memorial Day is not a good fit. Hopefully lessons learned.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.

@Lisa now in AZ  Where do you see that QVC had involvement with this?  Deirdre is not a QVC employee.  She's Jane's daughter and has her own connection with Kim and LWYA.

Every post and video promoting this was by Kim Gravel and Lug.  No mention of QVC.  There is no QVC livestream of this; QVC made no posts or videos about it.

QVC promotes everything they possibly can to get more eyes and possible shoppers.  They have nothing about this.

Even if QVC didn’t post it, Kim Gravel is a major QVC figure. Her promotions naturally reflect on the network. That’s how branding works.

I also contacted LUG and got a bland "We are sorry if you found our campaign offensive." It looks like it is a combined online stream with Kim Gravel, Lug Life and QVC. I think they are using Jane Treacy's daughter as their make up demonstrator.

ETA: And, you're right - this is not a QVC program per se. It is a combination of Kim Gravel and LUG Life, both of which we know primarily from QVC. If these brands are going to do their own things, they really need to clarify what they are doing. And having Jane Treacy's daughter, also tied to QVC makes it even more tied to QVC, one off.

I realize that Kim and propbably Lug are trying to prepare themselves for the next iteration of what QVC will become, but it is causing confusion when they are still selling on QVC. That still associates them.

@Lisa now in AZ  I saw no confusion at all.  QVC was never mentioned, and they never promoted it.

Tara promotes Temp-tations all the time about her items launching in other stores and being involved in gift industry events.  Nothing to do with QVC.  Plus she does fashion posts of her favorite finds and posts links to Amazon and Walmart.  Nothing to do with QVC.  Anyone making those assumptions that it's QVC is not QVC's fault.

QVC has marketing and legal teams for a reason. They are fully aware of what their on‑air talent promotes, because it all reflects on the network.

@manny2  Perceived association is human nature, even if flawed.  But those that want to express their displeasure with the event should go where it was launched.  The promotion for it never even tagged QVC.

The feelings about the slogan title isn't even universal here on the forum.

QVC does currently have vendors that are extremely controversial, but they are still on their list of brands and sell their items.  Who decides which ones are OK, and which ones are not?

We are not talking about other vendors or side issues. We’re discussing fallen soldiers and a campaign slogan that many people here find upsetting. That makes it completely appropriate for this board.

This is a very inapproiate conversation on this blog especially as we approach Memorial Day.  I live next to a family that lost their son in 1969 and he is still declared MIS.  We all should thave great respect for  all of the service men, vets and the ones who died in action with a great THANKS for protecting us in these and back in those old times also.

I agree @dmeasy. Let’s teach this to our children. Life goes on, and yes, Memorial Day is filled with sun, fun, and marketing now, but the reminder that we get to enjoy all of this because of our fallen heroes is always appropriate. It doesn’t matter how old you are, honoring them is always the right thing to do.

@manny2   Of course it's appropriate for this board to discuss, I never felt or stated otherwise.  My point was there's more than one feeling about it here.  Those that find it offensive/abhorrent should most definitely express their concerns.  I agree.

But the conversation gets muddled when the direction of ire doesn't go the directly responsible parties.
