Finding USPS tracking from ups

My package has been sitting in my local post office for a week, according to ups tracking. It says it was transferred to post office. I need the USPS tracking because they won’t be able to find it with the ups one. I’ve been through this before, I just can’t seem to find it this time. Any help would be very appreciated.

@Renata22

Once you've entered the tracking # on UPS website the details or progress tab should show the USPS tracking #.

@Renata22 , I see you got a perfect answer form rockygems123

I just wanted to chime in that I dislike when packages are tranferred from UPS to USPS.  It always slows the delivery by 2-3 days (no offense to USPS--I know they work hard!).  I think it is a means of giving some business to them.  I think it started when they were saying USPS as a business was failing.

Re: Finding USPS tracking from ups

@Renata22 - Funny you should mention the delay because I was supposed to have a package delivered yesterday (not from QVC).  It's been at my local post office (less than 5 miles away) since Monday.

I kept checking the USPS tracking and it said it was out for delivery yesterday, then they kept updating the time by which it would be delivered.  I finally gave up and walked down (long driveway) to get my regular mail around 6:00 p.m.  We had mail, so I have no idea why they didn't also deliver the package which would easily fit in my mailbox.

Finally at just after midnight, they updated the tracking to say it was "awaiting delivery scan".  Then this morning that there was a "delivery exception".  No explanation of what that was.

Ridiculous.  I could've driven over in less than 10 minutes and picked it up, but they won't allow that.  And I don't even know if they're going to attempt delivery today.  I hate this Surepost system!

Re: Finding USPS tracking from ups

More than likely, your package is sitting in USPS shipping partner, Newgistics, facility and it hasn't been delivered to your post office.

It's been delivered to your post office when your notifcations say, "accepted by post office."

More than likely, sneaky Newgistics doesn't want you to have all the information to find out just how sneaky they are. They will enter something in notifications that makes it look like it has been delivered to USPS and your post office is at fault for the delay.

Try entering your UPS tracking number on Ship24.com to see what is going on.  Go down the page to see all the shippers involved in your delivery.  If not much is there, try again in a day or two.

@Foxxee, thank you for this very useful info!  I did not know about Ship24.com.

I wouldn't be surprised if the package is not even at the post office.  That tracking is entered by Newgistics, not UPS and they often fabricate locations to cover themselves and their bungling inefficiency.  They do the short transports between locations.  I've had them claim they delivered a pkg to the USPS when it was not there or even in our state.

Re: Finding USPS tracking from ups

Thanks so much, everyone. I'm going to use all your helpful suggestions to try to find out what's going on. Then I'll head to the post office armed with whatever info I have. Hopefully I will come home with my package, or at least more knowledge about where it is.

I know they are very busy this time of year, but there have been some strange things going on like packages being sent back for no reason.  It's crazy.

Re: Finding USPS tracking from ups

Okay, here's what I found. It was delivered in Va. and I live in La. According to the ups number, it is still in transit. When I got the usps tracking, it said delivered in Va. on usps site and ship24 site. I guess if someone got it and decided to keep it, I'm out of luck.

Re: Finding USPS tracking from ups

I know in my case that my package was at my local post office.  It was delivered to the central one near here, then transferred to my post office.  (We're only small, rural. I've phoned before and been told, yes, they have it.  No, I can't collect it myself.)

And I think I found out what the "exception" was.  It was delivered today.  Went to the mailbox in the pouring rain to find the plastic shipping bag completely ripped open.  No attempt by the post office to reseal the bag, as they used to do.

The contents were just stuffed into my mailbox along with the invoice.  Thankfully, this was from Kohl's (clothing) and they put each item in an individual clear, plastic bag.  Thank goodness they cancelled the lingerie I ordered (out of stock).  I don't need my local postman checking that out! Woman Surprised
