I paid $5.03 per gallon for gas today.

The price of everything is sky high.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

@Neetgal2  You said it.  It's taken a while for us to really feel the impact on goods.  Of course we noticed food and gas prices pretty early on.

@Neetgal2   Definitely since most of these things are imported.

@Maizie Green  Can you give a little more info on the dummy batteries you bought as well as the smart plug?  New to me! And I am seeing a lot of options, which is getting confusing fast. Thanks.

Sure, I bought the AAA for my haunted house and I needed a set of three.

here is what I bought.

AC Power Supply Adapter for AAA Battery,Replaces3 AAA

you just insert them like you would normally I put the one with the cord to the back of of the battery compartment. that way I could still put the cover on the battery pack and the cord was facing the back of the haunted house for plug in.

they come in several different configurations. I bought three nice pumpkins at HomeGoods with no timer so I'm going to buy the one that is the three inone because the pumpkins will be grouped together and then I can plug them into a smart plug.

For my smart plugs, I use a version of these.

I have a lot of them and they use an app. So what I did was I labeled them all ABCD etc.  with a sharpie and then in the app I labeled the coordinating timer ABCD etc. That way when I pull one out of My stash I know which one I'm using and I can Change the name of whatever item I'm using them for in the app very quickly. For example, I may use it for my Christmas tree this year, but then in the fall,  I may use it for my pumpkins. That way if I need to adjust the time, I know which one I'm working with. I just look for that corresponding letter.

I like the ones that are Wi-Fi. I don't like the buzzing sound on the old-fashioned kind and also I like to be able to change things on the fly from my phone. If someone comes over and I wanna light something up I just pick up my phone and can turn it on. Mine are all hooked to Alexa as well so I can tell Alexa to turn on whatever

I use the smart plugs with Alexa for my house lights.

I also have a smart 'outdoor' plug for decorations.

Last fall I found the same thing at Kirlands, some simmilar items and cheaper but no timers and batteries go out even sooner than VPH items,  Was bit not worth the savings

@Maizie Green Thank you so much for all of that helpful info!

It is a little funny to me that for so many years I wanted and was thrilled with battery operated...no cords! But over time I've found certain battery items have unacceptable battery life, to the point that I stopped using them. So, the ability to make them plug-in as an alternative is fascinating to me.

100% agree with you. I have a few few items not many but a few that the battery life is terrible and I was thinking about donating them. But this gives them new life😁
