Re: FORUM RESPONSES

[ Edited ]

Since I joined back in 2007 I have probably only started three or four threads.  I do not enjoy keeping up with all the comments and believe you should do so if you are the OP.  Not to say you need to reply to all responses but yes acknowledge them through hearts.

I have not noticed any lessening of activity but for myself since my start here it is only a Monday through Friday thing for me.  I get off all social media from Friday afternoon until Monday or Tuesday if I decide to close the office on a Monday.  I have no idea how busy the threads may be on the weekends.  Some Mondays I get back online and it seems not many new threads have been started other times there are a great many to choose from to read through.  It all comes in waves.

@Shanus

Yes I've noticed.

When I try to determine why

I come up rather empty-handed.

But I do hope we continue to have this forum.

I don't start many posts because I live a very dull life and not much to say, but I do reply to others posts regularly. Really, I enjoy this forum and look in several times a day.

I have noticed that the amount of people "online now" is more than it used to be, so people are reading these boards. I have also noticed the response number seems to be down. Which leaves me to think that the forums are being read just not responded to. I know I only respond when I feel my response can offer someone information or opinion to the poster.

  Of course, what one would expect when every other  posted topic is deemed " argumentative " or  not in line with cutsey puppies & kittens or I Love QVC.

 Don't get me wrong , yea those posts appeal to many  but the 1st time you voice a different opinion there are some on these boards that resort to personally bashing another poster  instead of just  having an open discussion.

 Many people  who have been shopping at QVC for a long time  have every right to voice concerns abt this company or any other to request or hope that their needs & wants be addressed to make for more efficient use of their time  in spending their hard earned dollars . Other posters constantly  make belittling personal comments abt posters  voicing their opinion . Many other retailers  fashion their sales techniques towards customers responses to increase their sales . Tone deaf retailers  fall to the wayside.

I start a new thread maybe once or twice a month, but I respond almost daily on a few threads that I follow.  I have noticed that sometimes the forum does seem a little slow.

I would miss this if it were to close down.

Perhaps QVC strategy to stop offering the forum. Can't say much without getting into an argument & taken off forum, IMO.

I guess it is different for each person.

For me, I went on vacation and didn't read or post and when I got back I felt for my own sanity, it was better to not read or post as much.

I might feel differently at other times but yes, so many of the posts are upsetting and the replies to other posters upsetting too as if purposely saying mean things to another poster is a kind of game.

Saying derogatory things as deliberate put downs isn't fun to read.

Sometimes too, life gets in the way or I want to just be with every day family and people that I can see and be with.

I definitely feel the tone of the forums have changed especially in the past few years. I've been here for almost 20 years with the same name. I still have online friends from here when we first started years ago.

I do have favorite posters here and threads that I really appreciate so that makes me coming back. But even for these threads, sometimes, I just want to lessen the amount of time I spend.

I don't like to read posts that feel like blogs though I think everyone uses these forums for different reasons and everyone has different personalities and what makes them come here, and what makes them feel good.

@Shanus,

I appreciate you asking this.

I suppose it's a matter of opinion and of what each individual likes in a forum but in my case, I don't post here as much as I once did for a couple of reasons. First, the whole notion of chat boards isn't as much fun for me as it once was and, giving an honest opinion, these forums have become very restrictive, so that what is permitted now is often at least a bit mundane a good part of the time. There are a few other reasons, but for me, these are the bigger ones.
