Don't pay extra for shipping

I paid extra to receive 2 items because I needed them before leaving town tomorrow. You would think that paying to receive by 8/20 would work. Even if a day late I would still get them. Nope. UPS handed off to USPS and I still haven't received by 8/23. QVC takes absolutely no responsibility for this. They will refund the extra but that's not very helpful. This has happened before, but only by a day or 2. Save your money.

Re: Don't pay extra for shipping

With QVC they tend to use the cheapest shipping methods, except for food items.

When I need something quickly, I avoid QVC.

@Bjobrit.  I don't know what shipping option you chose but people in a hurry usually select Second Day Air that is delivered by UPS and USPS is not involved.  If that was the case, UPS erred.

When speedy shipping options are chosen, they don't get through the packing and processing at QVC any faster than normal, which makes them less than super fast.

Re: Don't pay extra for shipping

@Bjobrit I understand how frustrating it is to pay extra for something and not receive it. However, I think the blame should be on the shipper, not the sender. With many other online retailers I have had long delays once the package is transferred to USPS. Sometimes, the item will sit for 3-4 days.

I know it's too late for this but I never buy from any retailer online with the hope I will receive it in 2-3 days. Too many factors involved. I've even had delays with Amazon.

Don't give up, maybe you will receive it today.

Re: Don't pay extra for shipping

@Bjobrit Because I know from reading this Forum often, that many shipsments are delayed, free, basic pay, or extra pay.  The only personal experience of delay I've had, more than 20 others had that same delay.  I did eventually receive it and had to send it back, not because it was late but because it was so poorly manufactured.  Only a local shop actually handing me a purchase checks what they are giving me BUT EVEN THE ONLY IF I ASK.

Sorry you had a personal experience.

Re: Don't pay extra for shipping

With all the shipping issues going on, I never order something I need really quickly.  Once the item leaves the sellar, they are out of control in what happens.  I've found most shippers unreliable in my area.  But I live in a rural area and we have lots of issues related to living "out".

Re: Don't pay extra for shipping

Set up a MyChoice account at ups.com. You have many options to monitor shipments, get updates, etc etc.

You can enhance the MyChoice account by paying $20 a year to have UPS keep your packages and deliver them to you. So many companies do the UPS to USPS drop that it's worth the $20 to skip it.

The UPS to USPS drop is the slowest and lowest priority mail for USPS. It's normal to see it sit for days if USPS is busy.

That said, I really don't think you got the faster shipping. The UPS to USPS drop off is usually done with the lowest possible shipping option available at retailers.

Re: Don't pay extra for shipping

As I have been told (and why I don't do it now), paying for 2  or 3 day shipping means you will receive it in 2 or 3 days ONCE it is passed on to the shipper. So, if you order it on Friday and there is no pickup until Monday, you are not going to receive it until Wednesday or Thursday and NOT on Sunday/Monday (which is 2-3 days from the day purchased). I know those who ordered an item with 2 day shipping and waiting roughly 10 days before receiving it. Complained only to be told they DID receive it in 2 days; 2 days from the day it SHIPPED. It didn't ship for 8 days (for whatever reason) so they received exactly what they paid for.

This is why I don't play that game with QVC or HSN. No other company does this (that I've purchased from); 2 days means 2 DAYS from DATE of PURCHASE with everyone else.
