Mary Beth is now doing a "Friends and Family" livestream and selling shirts, and Shawn is now doing a livestream "Daretoshare". Shawn shares often, but I feel sorry for Mary Beth having to do this. She is laughing but seems very uncomfortable. It seems as if all the hosts are now desperate to keep their jobs. In the evening now it is common for three or four hosts to be on air together with a glass of wine in hand. Jane T. especially is trying to act 30 years younger. Then there is Steve, who seems lost all the time. I remember the night he had to sell purple purses and orange shoes! I hardly turn on QVC now since Carolyn was let go. Whoever is in charge now is headed the wrong way. I don't need to be entertained when I shop. There is enough crazy in the world!

Yes, I think QVC is desperate.  After 20+ years, I no longer watch.  Some watch for entertainment??? but not me!!!  I think they are trying to attract younger viewers--do 20/30/40 year olds watch QVC??--but they are alientating their older viewers.

Plenty of other places to shop which I do.

If they are doing livestreams, don't you think they were told to do so by QVC?  I do not see that as being "desperate" on their part.

If I remember correctly in the past hosts were instructed to use FB.  The livestreaming is just another indication that Q is more interested in developing digital than improving broadcast.

I always had them on in the background.  Now I would rather have weather on in the background.  I used to search out what was new or look for stuff to buy.  After the shakeup I did a hard reset.  I may get something on sale if I see it.  I do get some food.  But if I see something that is interesting I wait hours and then it is sold out or I realize I don't need it.  Kind of nice actually.  I have young friends that have no idea what QVC is.  I am not sure this idea will work for them.  I notice they sell the same tired old stuff over and over and over.  The prices are out of sight.  But good for them.  Obviously they do not need me and my business!  I don't like to push in where I am not wanted!

I pulled up the show, and MaryBeth in no way looked uncomfortable. She is a highly paid salesperson, and was her usual pleasant, and professional self.

Not desperation...it is called 'marketing strategies'...only time will tell if any of them work!

Hours and HOURS of meetings of the 'minds' go into coming up w/ this stuff.

Digital broadcastings are the way of things now...not for me, LOL....but all sites use some sort of blogging, instagramming (sic?) etc.

All these modes are out there and if a company is smart, they will use them.

Personally I feel it's a lot to ask of the hosts.   They have numerous meetings to attend and need to review the items they will be presenting on air (well, some of them anyway) and then to have to do the silly livestreams on top of it all.  If I was Marybeth I would just retire now before they got rid of me.   I think they expect a lot from the hosts, jmo.

@RespectLife @Especially since the way people watch TV has changed so much. There's less time spent watching regular TV with networks and more time spent watching in other ways. Q had previously only concentrated on regular TV. They are trying to expand to meet the needs of how people watch today. This expansion is one of the Qurate's main goals stated in Project Athens three year plan.
