@Estellee   They, and others who weren't hosts, were the people eligible for retirement.

But were they?  Dan is 62 now, Carolyn is 63 or 64 now  Full SS retirement age for those born in 1960 or later is now 67.  So even taking early retirement you would have to be 64 I think.  MaryBeth born in "59 would now be eligible for early retirment according to SS, as would JT.

[ Edited ]

As happened a year ago, posters keep forgetting that Qurate also terminated 3 hosts at HSN simultaneously; 2 of whom were much younger than Carolyn and Dan.

Oh.  And about 400 non-famous, non-celebrity, non television star regular folk.

Why them.....

I also hope that the three hundred and something workers that were laid off at the same time have found jobs.

@kitser  Whatever gave you the idea you could contact Dan here?  It's highly unlikely he will ever see your message.  The social media in which he participates is Facebook and that's the best way to contact him.

@chlema.  Eligible for retirement using QVC's criteria for their retirement program.  Social Security has nothing to do with it.

@Kachina624 Ok then, didn't realize that.  There are quite a few hosts that may also be eligible now I believe.

@kitser

As @Kachina624 has mentioned, Dan does not read this forum.  He is active on Facebook and does read comments to him there.  You can communicate with him there.

Also, he is not writing children's books.  Carolyn said she will be writing one in the future with Gary Goben doing the artwork.

@chlema.  We have no way of knowing what the criteria is for corporate retirement programs.  I was able to retire at age 57, for instance.

@Kachina624  As you responded to @Carmie  about facebook, that is one of the many reasons I choose not to participate in Facebook
