Am I the only one who is tired of hearing hosts talk about things using the word "cool" like a valley girl?

Not so much that, but find it annoying when they use terms I'm not familiar with in attempt to sound cool.  Example:  remember when Rachel kept using the term "jonesing", and JT keeps using the term   "it's the OG"...??  What the heck does that even mean?

I think "cool" is used by many people of a certain age, not just valley girls.  I know it dates us but an alternative adjective doesn't come easily to mind.  So, saying something is cool is lazy of us, in a way.

I'm sure my parents grew tired of "neat," "far out," and "bummer."  It changes with every generation.

I had to look up "OG" since I didn't know what it meant and I hear JT say it quite a bit.  Surprised to read it's gangster-speak.

Now I'm laughing as I, too, had to look it up.

Then, I was trying to imagine how the phrase "original gangster" could be used when selling ANYTHING on a shopping channel.   

I'm sure it has a place in some conversation somewhere, but I'm not sure I'm the target audience for OG anything

Oh this is funny! I never thought of cool as a valley girl term.  I have said that since I was a teen and that was a long time ago!  As far as OG is concerned I have heard that used in reference to someone that is a noted authority in a particular field.  I heard a group in the grocery store refer to Dr. fauci as the OG of medicine! I truly laughed out loud when I heard that one!

The term "OG" is still used in some contexts (especially in hip hop) to mean "original gangsta," but over the past few years, it has been more broadly adopted in the mainstream to just mean the "true original/originator" of something. And as has been noted in this thread, its application is typically not well thought out by most of the people who try to use it, which makes it not very useful as a reference.

Describing things as "cool" doesn't bother me, but it also is not particularly helpful; it's definitely not a selling point unless it's describing something like one of those mini refrigerators that have recently popped up at the Q...
