Check your refunds carefully--QVC charges for return label I didn't use

I have seen other posts about this but it never happened to me until now. I returned a small item ( ring) and did not use the QVC return label but it was deducted from my refund all the same. I paid around $2.50 at the post office using my own label.

A call to Customer Service resolved the issue. The agent said I would get a separate credit of $6.95. He said this should not have happened but I have my doubts. Be sure to check the amount of your returns against the amount of your order.

Is QVC being unscrupulous, trying to skim a few extra dollars from unsuspecting customers? It is entirely possible. Buyer beware.

This used to happen more often, when they first introduced the pre-paid labels; not so much anymore. It did happen to me a couple of times in the past, but hasn't been a problem recently.

Still, it's always a good idea to check all of your transactions - purchases and returns. Mistakes happen. (I always make sure I either retain the prepaid label - for proof - if I'm not using it, or scribble through the bar code so it can't be scanned at the warehouse.)

I don't think they are trying to cheat anybody. I think it's just sloppy processing. That's why I've always advised others to keep an eye on the refund and see if you are refunded properly.

I remember having one return some time back and they told me on the phone that I would not be charged for the shipping but when they got it, they did anyway. I just had to make a phone call and they fixed it. It's a bit of a pain, but you just have to be vigilent.

I think customer service tells you what "should" happen. The folks that process the returns are located somewhere else and seem to default to deducting for shipping. I wonder if most people use the label and its the exception not to, that's why it gets missed.
