oh, pulease, let's not get into politically correct posts, and finding slights where none were intended. There are gender differences, whether you want to believe it or not.
And that comment from brewhaha was totally out of line.

What you demean as "politically correct" just might be something that another person feels strongly about.
So "let's not get into" telling others that their opinions are not worthwhile, all the while espousing YOUR opinion regarding "gender differences," which btw, can mean different things to different people and can used in both a positive and also a very negative way.

We got our granddaughter a car and track duo when she was 4 months old. At first she learned to track the car with her eyes. Before we knew it, she was trying to reach for the car (we had it set up on the dining room table). Then in a hit and miss style, she started to catch the car, followed by being able to catch it all the time. She made super progress with this toy.
Now, at 14 months, she has a green truck that her Opa zips all over the house with the hand held control and she just laughs and laughs and tries to run after it. She also has a school bus that you can vroom, vroom, vroom and let go plus a little dump truck.
Cars and trucks are NOT just for boys. You need to have my granddaughter on the set playing with some of your toys!

Read what I've just written above. Are you telling me that there's something wrong with my DGD because she plays with cars and trucks at 14 months? I think you need some camomille tea. (IMHO)

I not only had a train and tracks but had my own Red Rider BB gun! I had a fun childhood!

I'm a lot older than Pat, and I never played with toy cars. And you know what--I never wanted to! Isn't that a possibility?

Had to jump in on this one. You are the minority. So am I. I'm an only child. I have had many, many friends of all ages & I've only had one friend in my life who was a Motor Head. I've always loved classic cars since I was a little girl & played with cars.....my dad bought me a race trac & we set it up in the basement...lots of fun! None of my friends right now could give two hoots about cars, watching the races, etc. My core group of friends wouldn't know a Hurst Shifter or a dual exhaust if they tripped over them. Not many girls 'get it. It's like music, art, reading books regularly, sports, etc.... either that's your bent or it's not. Don't get your feathers in a fluff over somebody having a different life experience or being made different by God. Everyone has their likes and dislikes - their things they 'get' and the things that just go over their head. Life would be boring if everyone came out of the womb the same. It's neat for me to see how many of my friends kids come out completely different than them. I have two friends with girls - one now is grown and the other is 3. The mothers of these girls just wear jeans and regular tops, whatever shoes, don't fuss with makeup or their hair.... and both of them have Fashion Plates for daughters. The one that is grown now she is like a Barbie Doll - she's so freakishly beautiful when you see pictures of her she is just stunning. When she was 4 her mom took her to a friend's house and they couldn't find her - she was upstairs in the woman's closet trying on her high heeled shoes. She was just attracted to them - like we are with cars! (Again, this girl I know doesn't 'get' loving cars, playing with cars, etc - it's just not in her naturally... just a different makeup of the mind!) She loves clothes, the highest heels, jewelery, makeup, has her hair always done nice.... she's a sweetheart and everyone loves her... and my other friend with a little girl - her girl loves anything sparkly and she PICKS OUT HER OWN CLOTHES TO WEAR AND THEY MATCH... now tell me if she's not going to be some kind of fashion plate, right? It just so happens that there happen to be a majority of 'girly girls' out there than us Car Babes... otherwise QVC and the other Shopping Channels probably wouldn't exist, right? (And how many purses can you carry at once?!!.... And $200 for a PURSE??!... I don't get it. But a Candy Apple Red 1967 Shelby GT500....I get that. Somebody tell Santa! I guess the bottom line in my babbling is - either you're a car girl and you get it or you're not and you don't. It's like boos. I have a collection of books and they have to be paper - the feel, the words on a page, turning the pages.... I don't really 'get' people using Kindle.... I have a few books on Kindle but just for reference & mostly free ones - with the Kindle books on PC I can look up a topic or word quickly and go right to the page. For literature I buy paper books and they have to look brand new - no scratches on the dust cover, etc. I'm even looking into buying those protective sleeves like the library uses to protect them. I LOVE the library. I read children's literature all the time. There are a lot of adults reading kids books, too! Same thing again, right? Either you get it or it's lost on you. I guess we all have our 'things'. The hostess with the cars - must not have been her thing. No sweat. It's all good.
