@Sooner

I thought that is what you meant.

As mentioned, this has been the system for retail purchases for eons!

Not just QVC, but all purchases anywhere may have a temp hold....gas stations, fast food...literally everywhere.

You must take this into account when ordering anything especially if you are concerned  about having enough funds.

@RespectLife I don't have trouble with funds.  I have had trouble with QVC doing this often.  Can't get the product, but also can't cancel because you might possibly get it at a later date?

I don't deal with any other retailer that does this.  Not putting up with some company that can't deliver what I want, and refuses to let me cancel.  Not happening.  Then have to keep waiting and hoping and thinking gosh I COULD get that somewhere else but then I MIGHT get this one?  No.  Not putting up with it!

@Sooner - Then you have your answer:  shop elsewhere.  Problem solved.

But, I've been waiting since 9/6 for a Think/Royln bag to be shipped.  I can't cancel that unless the Q Social Team allows it.  Go figure.

@luvmybeetle That's the major reason I hardly ever buy  from QVC now.  They don't ship the product and keep your money.  I don't know any other retailer who does that.

@Sooner.  I hope you're aware they don't charge your cc until your order ships, so, no, they don't take and keep your money.   I don't know any retailer period, that does that.  Get your facts straight.

@Kachina624 But you can go weeks with money tied up without knowing whether it will be charged or not.  You can be hung up thinking do you need to look elsewhere and get the item another retailer--then wind up having TWO of them?

@Sooner.  You seem to have some unique issues.  I've not had that experience.   I place orders and in a few days my order ships with no problem.

Re: Canceling item ordered

[ Edited ]

@Kachina624 - I agree.  I've never had my money "tied up" for weeks, nor have I had to worry about buying something elsewhere and ending up with "TWO of them".

And, if something did take longer than expected, I wouldn't be worried that the temporary hold would put me in a financial bind.

I think some shoppers are just better suited to shopping in B&M stores - immediate transaction!

(And I think some figure they can convince others to stop shopping with QVC, if they keep repeating these issues.)

@Venezia. I think people are not cognizant of the fact that ALL MERCHANTS are putting temporary holds on funds now.  If I buy gas or groceries at Walmart online, there is a temporary hold on my account for the amount of purchase.  It's routine with cc purchases.

@Venezia If it is a piece a clothing, I don't want to wonder if I will get it or not, or get it half way through the season, because if I order clothing, I need the piece.  Therefore, I need it or something similar to wear.  Not just ordering because.  I buy clothes when I need them.

Has nothing to do with financial issues for me, but some others on a close budget may incur a bank or cc fee if something puts them under their minimum, or causes them to run a balance on a card.  Things that aren't expected.

I was hesitant on a size I ordered on a L.S.  So I thought the procedure was to cancel and re-place the order.  No go.  So I went back to the order and under "edit" I was able to change the size.

That has happened to me also. C/S said the order had gone directly to the vendor and it could take 3 days to find out if a cx would process.

I just tried to cancel within minutes of my order.  Its says IN PROCESS. Fooey..........my items don't get shipped out for many days.  And then the slow road to the Olympic Penninsula in Washington State.  This is it for me.  I've watched less.  Now I'm have to march to the Post Office and stand in line to return it.  I told the Customer Service operator to make a note that I immediately tried to cancel it as I will not pay return shipping.  I will undoubtly have to phone QVC when charged the shipping and explain that I should not pay it (and will not) This is horrible customer service.  I've never had this problem with HSN.  Oh yeah, the excuse for being unable to cancel is they are TRYING to ship out quicker.  Balderdash!
