I always check ilovedooney dot com before buying my Dooneys. Their prices are always the best! For example, last winter I purchased the Dooney convertible calf leather shopper in Royal Blue from ILD for under $200 (with no tax, free shipping, and on 6 payments through Bill Me Later) while the Q was selling it for $298+ shipping + tax, and they continued to sell them at that price throughout the summer while never lowering the price.
ILD's are brand new -- factory wrapped, tags enclosed, the dustbag included, along with registration cards. The same cannot be said about the Q's bags and many buyers complain that theirs was "not new" when they received them. IMO, Bags that have been returned/used/damaged/missing items should not be sold as new, nor at the same price as a new bag...SPURT is correct --Lessons learned: Buyer beware when purchasing your Dooney, especially here.

It's a gamble! You can't whine because you occasionally lose.

It is a gamble. Perhaps if you call CS they can help you.

If you feel that strongly about a common practice in the whole retail industry, then just wait to see if it goes on clearance.
When I buy regular price, I'm making a conscious decision to pay that price. Now if it goes on clearance within a week of my order date, I call customer service. Other than that it is what it is. Sales happen!

Absolutely agree... Can't begin to fathom this level of upset because a bag bought on 'time' went on sale before it was paid off...
There was a time when if you put something on layaway and it went on sale before it was paid off they'd offer you the sale price. Switch to now... I recently had that happen at TJ Maxx and I was told they no longer honor sale prices on layaway items, and that my options were to either buy it or not at the price marked... I thought that was a pretty lousy policy, because I'd not even had the item to use..., but my choices were clear and limited... With EP, at least one has had the opportunity to use the item, whether they have or not... Retail is full of all kinds of real and perceived injustices... In this case, I simply don't think the OP has much of a case at all. We're talking about a bag bought in August that didn't go on sale until November, for heaven's sake.

A Dooney on clearance is still no sale price to me.
