Re: Ad Running for new Hosts

Amy must have got the memo to add more storytelling to her presentations too. I was surprised she had many last night. And even added in what’s going on with her own pre 50 celebration. 🤗🤗🤗

Just a thought there are so many posters here that know what makes the perfect host (per their complaints) here is the chance to apply.

I would think this job burns you out after selling the same mundane products over and over.
I give kudos to those that lasted as long as they have. I for one couldn’t do this job.

I actually like hearing about more than the product info. It gets boring after awhile for me and I agree with @nelc they probably are excited to talk about other things than the same ole. I really could tell Amy was enjoying her night because of the freedom of conversation. 🤗🤗🤗

How is this job different than any other job.  People do the same old, same old everyday.  The challenge is to keep interest in what they are doing.

@Igfan. True, but trying to show excitement for some of the products just to get us to buy is not easy.
I’m grateful my job is not always the same and I enjoy it.

@nelc

I think David V is burned out.....decades of same ole same ole, with a few new things that were going to change the world ( Remember the "excitement' when VitaMix and Keurig first came on to QVC?)

Now it's the rote recital of colors and numbers of gew gaws left...

He's GOTTA be counting the hours til retirement.....

I know it is not easy that is why people should think about the work before they apply for the job.

Re: Ad Running for new Hosts

One thing that makes the hosting job challenging is, like a radio host, have to avoid "dead air." If they lose connection with a vendor, or there's a mishap on-set, they have to keep talking. They don't have teleprompter, so they ad lib while at the same time listening to instructions from the control room and check the monitors to know what the customer is seeing on-screen. In addition, they have to ask the same questions, over and over, that they already know the answers to (and sound totally interested while doing it.). I could nor do that job.
