ALLSTATE WARRANTIES ON ELECTRONICS

What has been your experience on purchasing a warranty from Allstate Insurance when buying an item?  I've purchased several, and I'm trying to use the one on my iPad that I purchased 2 years ago approximately.  They're giving me the runaround!  After following all of the instructions, I'm waiting to hear back from them, and so far it's been almost a week since I started this.  I've done everything they asked, sent copies of receipts etc., but the process seems to be at a standstill.
I'll never buy an extended warranty on anything in the future, especially from Allstate on QVC.

@CABRIT   Just curious.....

Why didn't you get AppleCare?  You surely wouldn't be going through the hassles you're going through now.

Re: ALLSTATE WARRANTIES ON ELECTRONICS

@CABRIT   Your experience does not suprise me, sadly.

I recently bought a Treadmill, my first.

I bought the AllState Warranty with it, after reading various roller issues people were having.

Noticed several reviews where people said they never received the AllState Warranty, even though it was marked SHIPPED (and, therefore charged).

So, I wanted to know what the Warranty said BEFORE fully assembling the Treadmill. Common sense, actually. I also got SHIPPED, but received nothing.

Contacted Customer service who said it takes a month; that doesn't work because you only have a month to decide on the item and the warranty.

Now, insert HERE the fact that I am not only an attorney, but a former teacher of Contract Law.

Eventually Customer Service gave me a phone # to call (useless, it is only for reporting Service Requests) and a web page. You can only read the web page if you send them your RECEIPT from Q.

Cut to the Chase: I read the Warranty online after registering.

Yee gads.

I'm reading the "warranty" as a trial attorney and contract law professor, can't image anyone else seeing the problems.

First, they want you to exhaust the item's warranty before using them.

Then there is paragraph after paragraph with exceptions.

It was clear that there were not going to be local service dudes to come out to help--which is what I thought I was paying for.

*** You'll love this: One paragraph said they would not cover any problem with a device that had REPEATED USE.

Treadmill? Repeated use is the game.

As a lawyer I knew the warranty was worthless.

Easier for ME to call a local if I have a problem. Cheaper, too.

Happily, Customer Service got the problem (when I explained I was a lawyer) and refunded me the Warranty.

Re: ALLSTATE WARRANTIES ON ELECTRONICS

@Mz iMac   As you quietly pointed out,

the best bet is probably the manufacturer.

[Love AppleCare.]

If you buy a device, there will be some sort of warranty.

In addition, the manufacturer/product seller will have an interest in protecting brand reputation.

They will have CUSTOMER SERVICE, who are familiar with the device and want to help you get it working.

AllState Warranty has no one on staff familiar with all the devices and clearly has an interest in NOT paying anyone external to come and help.

Having read their entire contract, I do not see how AllState would be a benefit (or even useful) to any QVC customer for any purchase.

I thought the warranty would be a benefit, if I had any problems. My mistake.

Re: ALLSTATE WARRANTIES ON ELECTRONICS

I purchased a warranty from Allstate on an item once.  It only takes effect after the manufacturer's warranty expires.

We had a new refrigerator that was covered under warranty and the freezer malfunctioned.  The first man who came out did not fix it properly....he was from a company selected by the manufacturer.  The second guy who came out (also selected by the manufacturer) badmouthed the first guy and was from a different company.  But I noticed that when the bills were paid, both bills came from one company.   I always thought it was a set up so the same group could collect twice on a repair and it was maybe botched the first time on purpose.

Re: ALLSTATE WARRANTIES ON ELECTRONICS

I bought a fairly large smart tv and it died a year later. Allstate paid me the full price within 2 weeks.

You have to stay on it though. You call to file a claim, email them the proof of purchase & pictures, then have to call back, then they send you claim stuff, then you have to call back, then they send you a final agreement, you have to sign online and send it back, then you have to call again, then you wait for the check.

Nothing but pure profit for companies that sell extended warranties.
