@Caaareful Shopper thank you for showing this beautiful mural of Ade. I work in downtown Philly, so I want to look up where this mural is so I can see it in person. Philly has so many beautiful murals painted on buildings. In fact an agency called the Mural Arts Society does tours of murals throughout our city.

Ade has a stunning figure and when they allow her to speak, she is very articulate.

@DJs mom , @Shelbelle

The nural looks stunning online.  I wish I lived near to see it in person.

Walé Oyejide designed it.  It was painted by Efrain Herrera, Kien Nguyen, and Darya Putrikova.

Here's the information:

ACANA (African Cultural Alliance of
North America)

5515 Chester Ave (also stated mural location as 5530 Chester Ave.)
Philadelphia, PA 19143

Re: ADAY {sic} THE MODEL

@Caaareful Shopper thanks for the address. It is not located in downtown Philly (also known as Center City). That address is a section of the city called Southwest Philadelphia (which I now notice is referenced in your description). However, it isn't far from where I work. I work in Center City Philly which is the business district. I will have to make sure I drive past the mural so I can see it in person.

@DJs mom   Wonderful!  Thank you for that clarity.  If you do get a chance to see it in person, please let us know what you think of it.  Smiley Happy

That mural is stunning. My eyes, first saw a lovely mother and daughter, and I was looking for the mural! What a talent.

Adequate herself is beautiful, and she makes everything the Q puts her in look fabulous. Blair is another one of my faves.

The name is Ade a short form of a longer Yoruba name of which Ade is a part of.

There is a meaning of royalty or "crown" within her full name.

For instance, my name is Titilayo, one who gives joy, and the nickname or short form is Titi.  All Yoruba names mean something, either a wish for them, a description of their birth, or a quality they seem to have.

Yoruba is an ethnic group mostly in Nigeria but also in Benin and Togo.

@NYwoman Yoruba descendants live in the Caribbean too!  Puerto Ricans (and other locations in the Caribbean) are proud to have incorporated Yorubas (and other West African), with native Taino Indian, and Spanish in our roots and culture. The Yoruba were the majority of the West African people brought to our island.  Our food, musical instruments and dance forms (bomba y plena), wood carvings, leather work, fabrics, speech and religion incorporate Yoruba influences.  People from Puerto Rico are proud of our Yoruba ancestry.  We need to get the names!

Interesting @Caaareful Shopper!. Thanks for sharing.  Beautiful mural!  I looked into into it because I wanted to know more about the artist.  Interesting, talented gentleman.  Looks like he is also a film maker and fashion designer.  The mural itself was painted by Efrain Herrera, Kien Nguyen and Darya Putrikova.

Walé Oyejide is also Yoruba, BTW. and his first name is shortened.
