If doing an exchange, does it have to be for the same item?  Or for example, could I exchange a top for a gardening item?

My understanding is that an exchange would be an exchange of the original item.

II has to be the same item.

Not just the same item but it must be the same item number.  Sometimes regular and petite of the same item will have different numbers.

I called recently about this and was told it has to be exchanged for the exact same item.
