This is the problem with QVC.  They want to make you feel that you are part of a family or group of friends.  They let go of hosts that inspire that goal.  QVC cannot have it both ways.  They are either a family atmosphere or a business whose bottom line is money.  I wish they would stop with the party atmosphere of having hosts wearing pajamas and drinking wine as if they were having an adult slumber party.  QVC is not family it is a business

Many businesses using the marketing technique of " family." Olive Garden's "when your here you're famly." Even Tamron Hall calls her viewers the TAMFAM. Because QVC hosts use the term Q family, do you think they don't follow a business plan that includes lay offs??? Where is your logic??

Within reason, I think the OP's feelings and those who share them are somewhat understandable. When I first started watching QVC, there was a bit of a warm, friendly feeling. I never assumed the hosts were my 'friends' or bought into all the subtle efforts to hook me in to 'the family', but watching was a somewhat pleasant experience and some hosts became my favorites, while there were others I tried to avoid, Over time, it became a good bit less fun to watch. The warn and fuzzy pretty much evaporated, most of my preferred hosts flew the coop, the hard sell took over and the items presented became somewhat redundant and boring, with too long presentations of the same items, over and over. Given all that, I haven't been a regular viewer in a while, so while I can't say all the recent changes have made much of a difference to my viewing habits, I do understand there being some feelings of loss at the way this network has changed, and frankly, has devolved.

Don't you dare assume no one else has experienced grief.  I experienced the loss of a child and I'm still missing Carolyn.  Apparently you think you are the only one.  People who have experienced hardships can still feel sad about smaller things in life.

who are you talking to?

I rarely watch anymore.  I do shop online if I'm looking for a particular item.

All the morning shows and daytime talk shows do the warm fuzzy thing. Birthdays, group hugs, etc., ...

Its all part of marketing to gain and retain an audience. Hora Kotb nor Kelly Clarkson are your "friends."

@smoochy  Exactly. This person apparently has never experienced real life grief. Losing both my parents. Never to see or hear their voices. that's something that will change your life. A year ago I was in very bad shape. I was in the Hospital/rehab for 4 months on a Vent for 67 days a feeding tube, unable to walk on my own.wasn't allowed to eat for months. You tend to look at life a bit differently. I am fine now,but I almost died a few times. The firing of 2 QVC hosts would not be on the top of my list. I liked them, but I got let go from a job I had for over 25yrs and I survived, they will too. People who grieve over people they don't know have something missing in their lives especially when the people that they are so upset about are STILL ALIVE..She doesn't need grief councelling she needs to see a PSYCHIATRIST

Whoa! I read the original post. I didn't get the same feeling from it that you have. The poster was commenting on a TV show that's now disappointing. Not the strong feelings referenced in your response. I miss the "old QVC" too but it's not actually grief.

Re: A decision I did not want to make

I like many characters from shows that were cancelled & I feel bad. These are sales people with a job on QVC; I watched for many years & never thought any were family. You feel sad but don’t grieve when they move on. Even family members move on, get married & we miss them but don’t grieve. My manager who I worked for for 30 years retired & I missed him; he was my friend. He passed away in February & now I feel grief & totally different.

This is business & the corporate world today & QVC is no different. I got a package & it was the right time in my life but those younger than I did too & it wasn’t for them. However, they took outplacement classes, resume preparation guidance received a nice monetary settlement. Everyone in my department of 32 people were shocked at first but all did quite well in life & felt it was the best thing that ever happened to them.

Carolyn must be in a good financial situation & tho I didn’t watch her much, every time I tuned in, she said she bought almost everything she presented & Dan has a nice piece of property. They were long term employees who got the best package but those off camera or support type positions, possibly single moms or dads, someone caring for an elder or one with medical conditions, did not get a package as lucrative, feel sorry for them.

I like some hosts and avoid other hosts. I really don't understand how people get so attached to a salesperson. They certainly don't care about viewers. All they care about is a sale.

Decisions?  Sorry, but that is a nothing burger. We had to take my brother off life support yesterday and that's a real and difficult decision.
