? REGARDING LACTATED RINGERS

My dog has failing kidneys and needs infusions of lactated ringers fluid bags.  I'm having trouble finding a drug store that stocks these or can get them.  Does anyone that has experience with this have any suggestions as to best place to buy them?

Maybe Chewy's or .......oh darn,I cannot remember the name......is it,"Pet Meds"  ?  1-800-PetMeds

They both stock pet meds and needs

Can your own vet get them for you?

I will keep your precious furbaby in my prayers .

My neighbor gets them through Chewy and Heartland Vet Supply online. I got them through my vet (who also administered) most vets should  give you or help find. Keeping your dog in my good thoughts, sorry to hear, I know it's tough 🐾

@Stevie Nix

There are many sites through which you can get the fluid bags and supplies. We always went with the vet because he matched the lowest online supplier; it's good to check it out. Plus if there's an issue with any of the parts not working correctly or finding the proper gauge needle for your dog, the vet is right there (some gauges of needles allow the fluid to flow more quickly but they're thick, like a harpoon. Some are smaller and the fluid takes longer to administer, but they're more comfortable for your pet.)

Best wishes for your dog! Subq fluids make them feel so much better.

@Stevie Nix   I'm very sorry that your dog is in kidney failure.  Many years ago I had a cat that needed fluids.  My Vet told me where to purchase them locally.  I don't remember where that was or what type of facility it was. My Vet also told me what size needle to get.

Thanks for all your replys.  Chewy and my vet are not playing nicely with each other.  I've been trying to get them to talk to each other for over a week.  Now Chewy tells me they are out of stock and no idea when they will get more.  I've called around locally and can't find anyone who will fill my prescription.  As an "emergency" my vet it allowing me to pick up a bag tomorrow.  If Chewy doesn't come thru I'll try Pet Meds.

@Stevie Nix   Something is wrong with Chewy's method of communicating with Vets.  They kept telling me that my Vet wouldn't respond to them re: my dog's Heartguard prescription.  My Vet said they hadn't gotten a request.  I finally had it filled somewhere else and cancelled the order with Chewy.  I found a message board online where a former Chewy pharmacy employee said that this happened all the time.

I love Chewy for other things but won't try to have a prescription filled with them again.

Re: ? REGARDING LACTATED RINGERS

Chewy has been behind on some of our supplies....I think everyone's in the same boat.

Unless there's a big cost gap, given the current situation, you might just want to buy your supplies from your vet. This is something you can't afford to run out of, for what it's worth.

Check out costco or walgreens, they have pet pharmacy equivalent, or good rx, call around and get a quote. We have done that in the past. Good Luck, sorry about your dog.

1 If you have a private pharmacy call them. They can get it. It worked well for me when I needed some medication that the vet did not stock.

Petco also sells it.

Maybe look at a place close to you that it will be easier for the vet to call.
