@conlt  The rescue group I got my dog from gives its owners 1 yr of FREE pet insurance.  I forgot the name of it.  Because my vet has a discount sliding scale for seniors (humans) as well as for senior pets, I did not renew.  In my neck of the woods, all vets & vet hospitals have discounted senior (humans) pricing.

Suggest you check w/your vet about senior pricing.

I must be one of a few who did not know.  Breed?  How old?  Pics?

Congrats!

Thanks so much for sharing this information about some vets possibly having a sliding scale fee for seniors.  I had no idea.💝🌸

Re: Pet Insurance. What is your experience?

I use Healthy Paws based out of Seattle, Washington. I've been extremely happy. I have an Australian Labradoodle who turned 13 years old in January. We moved this last year and close to the Vet School out of California. We've had to do a series of ultrasounds, aspersions of some lumps and very easy to upload the charges and reimbursement is very timely, within a few days. When we started out it was $36 per month then each year it increases. But after $500 deductible the payment is 90% and as they age there are certain things that need addressing. It's just piece of mind making sure your animal has medical insurance.
I hope this information is helpful.

You are so fortunate because usually, as the pet ages, the price goes up!    I adopted an adult/ senior cat (8 yrs at adoption) .   Her "pre existing condition" could be that we took her even though she was overweight.    She has lost some of that weight but is still a bit chubby, although no longer a petite bowling ball!    Her diet is better, she moves more, better and faster, has her "waddle" back, and is slimmer.   I assume that she was obese for a while as her grooming is blow par due to lack of flexibility turned into bad habit.

Re: Pet Insurance. What is your experience?

@Snoofy She is doing great! Thank you for asking. I have not purchased pet insurance for her. She had her 3rd round of puppy vaccinations, tomorrow she goes for her rabies vaccine and she will be done.

The next thing will be the spay in a few months. I hate that for her.

I have taken her to the nursing home x 3 to visit my brother. I am training her to do that. She is a calm, sweet puppy. I am grateful and excited to have her. She is perfect for me.
