I remember you said your kitty was allergic to the thyroid meds from the vet, and I just came across something I thought you might want to look into.
It is an herbal product called RESTHYRO™ for cats.
I cannot speak to how it might work, but I thought it might point it out to you.
I just ordered a few products from the NHV Natural Pet Products website today (they carry it).
They were most helpful!

Witchy Woman: How kind of you to remember about my cat. Actually, I discovered Resthyro about three weeks ago and I have been putting it in her food twice a day. Surprisingly, the vet said she will be very interested to see how it works. I looked at the customer comments on the NHV website and they are very positive. When I called NHV to make the order, I spoke to a very nice woman and she confirmed that when some folks found that Methamazole (thyroid medicine) was not working for their cats they put them on Resthyro and are reporting good results - so I am very hopeful that this will work for my girl. Right now, I am just thankful she is tolerating it. I am so hoping her next thyroid blood test will show good results.
Because she has had two urinary tract infections lately, I also bought a bottle of Tripsy but for some reason she refuses to eat the food it is in.
How is your boy doing? I hope he is doing well and you have found a way to resolve his ear problem, and that those NHV products work well for you.
Again, I truly appreciate your letting me know about Resthyro. Best regards.

Great! I'm glad you are trying it and hopeful it helps.
My kitty boy is doing pretty good, and I am exploring the idea of removing the polyp in the least invasive way. My primary care vet is looking over the records to see if that is possible.
For the moment, he is eating and being a good kitty. I know it remains a problem, but thankful for every day he can just eat and enjoy the porch.
I bought a product for ear infections and one for diabetic cats as I think another one of my kitties is prediabetic and want to try helping him before going further. I was going to buy the tripsey, but spoke with someone and she recommended the Mellit (?) for diabetic issues.
With 4 aging cats, it's always something!
Best to you and your kitties. Please continue to post on your progress.

Wedgewood Pharmacy in PA will make a compounded medication for thyroid, they can make it a liquid and will fishn or chicken flavor it. Since Methasamole (sp) is a problem because of algery, they can use a natural thyroid compound. . They will compound the med and then fed ex it to you. I've gotten my pet meds from them for years and my thyroid kitty will be 22 this year. She also had a UTI and the vet gave her Orbax and a pain med for the bladder spasums that you just put a tiny bit on the inside of her cheek.

Druid102: This is good information to know. I don't know Wedgewood Pharmacy (I am in CA) but I do use a compounding pharmacy here for other medications for my cat. I will check with my vet about the type of natural thyroid compound you have mentioned and see if the pharmacy here will make it. If not, we could try Wedgewood Pharmacy. I must admit I would feel a lot better about my girl if she were taking a medicine rather than depending on the herbal natural supplement she is on now. I truly appreciate your sending me this information.
