Hi,
i'm to the group but I wanted to send you and Sophie my best.
i had 2 friends who had to have a leg amputated from each of their dogs.
i'm sure you already see how quickly they adapt.
they both got more time with their family members

My heart goes out to you and your DH. Being told your furbaby has cancer are the worst words we can hear. My girl had metasticed bone cancer - something they won't operate on. However, I did meet with a top surgeon at Tufts, trying in vain to get them to operate, and, aside from the typical surgeon jargon, he told me that had it been operable, her leg would have been removed. He also explained that dogs do not miss the leg. At first there is '"ghost" pain on the missing limb for a brief time. And, usually in two weeks time, they adapt to getting around perfectly fine on just three legs.
I am so sorry and can relate to your heartbreak. However, Sophie will be fine - and soon back to normal, enjoying her loving family.
Hugs and prayers for you, your DH and particularly, beautiful Sophie...![]()
