Good rule. In Arizona it’s more like 1 second. We also have a rule that no hiking with your dog when it’s over 100 degrees.

Thanks for the reminder to everyone since it is now getting very hot across the country! The hot surfaces can burn paws so quickly. I would get my furbaby on the grass as fast as possible or tried to keep him in the shade when I took him out. He hated the heat anyway, so much so that he would go into the shade of a telephone pole or under a parked car even when it was not even that hot! So I knew he hated it & always tried to keep him out of sun and heat anyway.
