So many dogs left abandoned on the border. It's sad to see. I've been feeding them. People who cross over illegally bring them, but Border Patrol won't allow pets. So they get left behind. Eagle Pass Texas.

In the area where I live, there are so many abandoned dogs, litters of puppies and cats and kittens.

People are finding them sometimes in cardboard boxes on the sides of the roads and in dumpsters. Some are chained to trees or benches.

Two summers ago, I saw two small long haired pure bred dogs lying dead together on the side of a highway far away from houses or businesses. Someone must have dumped them and they got hit by a car or truck.

That image still bothers me.

It breaks my heart.  Humans are so cruel.

This is so sad, and it especially brings home the point of why spay/neuter of cats and dogs is so important.  I pray every night to St. Francis (Patron Saint of Animals) and to St. Gertrude (Patron Saint of Cats) to please help and protect all animals everywhere.

That's how I got my dog Ruby.  She was abandoned by a couple living down the street from a family member.  Before they moved, there were several dogs on their property, but she was the only one that didn't make the cut I guess.

Lucky for me though, she wandered into my family's garden and the rest is history!  I so wish these other abandoned dogs are found good homes.

I also wish there were steeper penalties for folks here who make a practice of abandoning animals.  I used to live near our animal shelter and you wouldn't believe how many animals would get dumped at the bottom of my driveway rather than just taking them into the shelter.  It was pitiful.  I even had people leave pups in a cage once.  Naturally, I felt responsible for finding homes for as many of these pets as I could.

What is wrong with people? This is so cruel. You can see the confusion in the dogs' eyes. Please post how we can help those good and decent people who are helping those beautiful dogs.

How kind you are to help all those who wandered into your orbit.

Ruby must have sensed that your house was a safe haven and her instincts were right. I remember you have posted her picture and she is a little sweetheart.

Bless you.
