Thank you all for your replies.  Good information to know.  I haven't let my dogs eat pork and probably won't in the future.

Shadow get a few small bites of grilled pork, never a lot.

This applies to cats, as well as dogs, according to the vets in my area. Causes severe pancreatitis.

Dogs should never get pork in any amount.  My Mom (a first time dog owner at the time) gave our new dog some pork meat once, and the poor dog ended up in the vet hospital on an IV.

 

I read a lot of posts here about things well-meaning owners feed their dogs for a treat, it's terrible.  Pork, popcorn, etc.  Dogs really shouldn't have people food JMO.

@Mj12. So true. Dogs shouldn't have people food.

Especially around the holidays, lots of pet owners think it's ok to give pets special human food treats. Many seem to forget about the spices used to prepare the turkey, etc. The results can be deadly .
