@spot555  I just ordered this!!!!  My husband just bought fertilizer for the front lawn ONLY, but your post came just in time.  He said he would give this a try first.  I hate ALL chemicals and after burying a dog this year with cancer and my husband has had a bone marrow transplant, I pray that this works.  We cancelled our bug service and are going to do it ourselves with natural products.

I've always given our dogs both, heart and flea preventives and none of them have died of cancer. My favorite Cocker Spaniel, Gizmo died of heart issues at 10 and our Chihuahua Leo was 15 when died of old age, we have two other Chihuahuas, Shad-O 16 and Oreo 12, and both are doing great. Our newest one, Khloe is 2 and this thread just reminded me to give her her heartworm pill, was due on the 3rd. And since we moved a year ago, they are no longer getting the flea preventative.

Chemicals that KILL are put into the bloodstream. That's never a healthy option. If the products kills fleas, etc., how can that be a positive for our pets health? Natural methods should be the first option, imo.

Antibiotics kill bacteria, they still save lives. Chemotherapy drugs kill cancer cells, they also save lives. Something that kills is not in and of itself bad. 

Heartworm kills as does tapeworm in some cases. So flea and tick meds are not just about the almighty dollar. It is about saving lives. You know, my grandparents dogs all died of heartworm at early ages because it's rampant in the South. I'm grateful that dogs don't have to die from heartworm anymore.

Well we do have studies that show a link between the vaccines in pets and vaccine site sarcoma. I'm all for vaccine choice for people and pets.

This is why you don't want to give a all in one heartworm flea med. And if you need to use a flea tick med it should be given a couple weeks after the heartworm. We don't give flea meds because we have never had a issue. It's also why you don't want to vaccinate for things outside the core shots unless you have to. For instance kennel cough is not needed unless your going to have to bored at a kennel.

We also don't fertilize our yard anymore. My dad used some organic stuff the last couple of times.

I dont use flea/tick medicine on my dog. I live in a high risk area for heartworm so I mix my own and give it to him every 45 days based on our warm months. We live in SE Wi. so the colder months I do not give it. 

I believe vaccinations are a huge cause of cancer and other chronic issues like allergies, etc. My dog has had no vaccinations (and never will) other than rabies, which is given every 3 yrs after the initial one given. 

I also dont know what goes into dog food so I feed raw. This way I am controlling most everything that goes into his body - except the air we breathe - which is a big factor I am sure also. 😏

My vet has no issues with what I choose for my dog. Luckily he continues to follow new research and evolves and adapts his practice. If mine didn't, I'd of course find a new vet.

We don't have fleas here and don't have grass.   Some years,  after a rare wet winter,  we do have a short infestation  of ticks.   I use Avantix II  only after they show up.   I do use heart worm preventative but wonder if that's necessary since mosquitoes are rare.  Can't get a straight answer out of a vet. 

I've always had a dog or dogs but never had one die of cancer.   So sorry for people who have to go through that.
