Re: Detected Heart Murmur in ZaZu during his yearly examination

Was given a Sheltie years ago from a breeder/shower, as she was born with a heart murmer. She grew out of it.  Later a Pom mix started coughing, I recognized it as heart, vet confirmed, no meds, he outgrew it, too. He was probably 7-8 when we noticed it. Died of kidney failure, no more heart problems.

Best thoughts for your beautifull ZaZu! And I love that name lol.

Our Mini-Schnautzer Bebe had a Heartmurmur that got worse and worse. Not uncommon in Schnautzers. We gave her a Heart Tonic we bought online, that seem to make a difference.

Good luck to you and your pups

@SeaMaidensaid:  "I have had  both dogs taking Co Q 10 and hawthorn  for years....I will add L. taurine    and L Carnitine  to ZaZu's supplements and see if that makes a difference in the murmur buy end of month when the specialist sees him."

I offer this as something to think about.  Wait until after the evaluation by the specialist before adding anything to  ZaZu's supplement regimen on the possibility that the additions may only mask but not improve the situation. IMO it would be better for the specialist to evaluate ZaZu at the same level he was at the time your vet examined him.

Once you have the specialist's findings discuss the additions with the specialist if you will be in attendance or with your regular vet.

The eyes through which you see others may be the same as how they see you.

@Marp   I appriciate your input and thoughts on this. Thankyou for your post and concern!

I told my vet I was using natural supplements  as my vet is a natural vet.  My feelings are that if a situation can be improved on using only natural means.. over meds I am all for that.  Of course I will mention what supplements I have him on to the specialist  as well when I see him.

.

But I do understand what you are saying and I think what you say has validity.

@tends2dogs  Yes, I will let you know how ZaZu’s Eco cardio gram goes.  DH is doing well, thank for asking!  So thankful that the problem was caught in time.  We are very fortunate for the excellent medical care in our  country.   How is your sweet pup doing?

Yes, you and your DH were blessed to have that problem caught and now taken care of.  I hate to think about the outcome of that had it not been found by that astute medical worker!

Willoughby is doing so much better now that he is eating raw.  I switched him in December.  Besides the whole IBD thing, his skin was raw from itching constantly.  That began to turn around within a week.  His poor ear flaps and elbows were raw and now he has no sores and has hair on those spots.  He is a happier dog and that makes us happy.  He had an IBD flare right after his rabies shot.  Our holistic vet thinks it was because of the shot. (that's a whole other subject LOL ) We seem to have him back in remission for the time being.  Thanks for asking!  Thanks also for the help you have given me with supplement suggestions Smiley Wink.

@tends2dogs  So glad Willi  is doing better!  As far as rabies shots go... I stopped doing them after the second shots.  Lola is now 8 and Zazu is now going on 5. No more rabies shots going forward.  They have had enough and rabies shots are the ones that tend to change personaitites from nice dogs to mean dogs... and cause other metabolic changes.

Poor pets are just over vacinated due to the phamacutical companies greed and brain washing of the public.  People should do Tiethers  to check their blood to see if their pets need the shots... but, this is rarely ever discussed by vets.

Re: Detected Heart Murmur in ZaZu during his yearly examination

@SeaMaiden, ZaZu is beautiful and looks both happy and healthy.  Yearly exams are essential, especially when our pets get older.  Hoping that he continues to do well and lives a very long life.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!
