Detected Heart Murmur in ZaZu during his yearly examination

Shows why going for yearly examinations on pets is such a good idea.  ZaZu is going on 5 years old.  He has no symptoms of heart issues, so it was good that the vet caught it with the check up listening to his heart.   We are  going to have a dog cardiovascular specialist  do a Eco cardiogram end of the month when he is in town. ( he travels about town to town...not many of them)

Lola  my other Golden who is 8 years old checked out fine....always good news!

With ZaZu, it it may be nothing to worry about( hopefully) but at least now we can keep an eye on it and manage the situation if it comes to that.   He is A systematic now  which is a good sign.

I have had  both dogs taking Co Q 10 and hawthorn  for years....I will add L. taurine    and L Carnitine  to ZaZu's supplements and see if that makes a difference in the murmur buy end of month when the specialist sees him. It may make no difference, but I want to be proactive...and it will not hurt to give it a go!

I do natual healing  as much as I can.

Here is a pic of ZaZu 🙂

My late American Cocker Spaniel had a heart murmur and lived to be 14 years old.  You have ZaZu for many more years of sweet kisses, petting and companionship.  Smiley Very Happy

@SeaMaiden  Look at that beautiful baby.  Good that you are being proactive.  We will hold him in good health in our hearts.  Please let us know the results at the end of the month.

I always bring my dog in for her annual exam.  She is 11 and I hope she will be healthy for many years to come.

I had Cavalier King Charles Spaniels for many years, and mitral valve disease is one of their hereditary diseases.  Almost all of mine eventually got it.  They took as many as three medications at a time.  Only one passed away from heart failure.  The others died from cancer.  It's treatable.  I hope you'll have ZaZu for many more years.  He's beautiful.

Such a sweetie, @SeaMaiden, with a very kind face.  Just adorable.  Good for you for being proactive with the CoQ 10 and hawthorn.

I send you healing thoughts that it will not progress.

@SeaMaiden

Zazu is adorable!  Just a note: be extremely careful with heart supplements like coq10, etc., in a dog or cat with heart problems, especially if your baby must go on heart meds. The supplements can mess with the meds in a negative way. Make sure your vret knows even now how you plan to supplement specifically.

Offered respectfully from one whose pets have been down your road.

Best wishes for your beloved pup!

@Sammycat1  ThankYou for your good advice.  If at a point he needs meds I definitely would talk with my vet and mention the supplements he has been taking and do whatever he says.

Thankyou  everyone who posted for your thoughtful kind words. It means a lot to me that you took the time to post.🙂

Our Mini-Schnautzer Bebe had a Heartmurmur that got worse and worse. Not uncommon in Schnautzers. We gave her a Heart Tonic we bought online, that seem to make a difference.

Good luck to you and your pups
