Belly bands all the way! THe best invention ever. When my boy was having accidents, this is what we've used and they are a godsend.
IF he truly has seperation anxiety, you can also try using a natural calming product to help with the seperation anxiety. I've tried many and this one has worked the best:

I would also not jump to the "seperation anxiety/punishing you for leaving him" conclusion, NEVER assume a behavorial issue UNTIL medical problems are ruled out. There could be a bacterial infection or bladder stones, even if it isn't a genetic kidney disease, so please, please make sure your vet rules out all health issues before you seek help for a behavior problem.
OP this is the response you need to read. Take your dog to the vet. Bring a fresh urine sample. be sure and take your adoption papers with you.

If you do go to the vet, when you make your appointment ask if they would like you to bring a urine sample, or if they would prefer to take the sample themselves in the office. My vet often took a urine sample directly when my dog was having issues, saying that it gave a more accurate reading that way re what the exact problem was. (My dog had recurring bladder infections.)
@Shawnie, I have a tuxedo kitty that looks a whole lot like the one in your avatar! He/she is a cutie!

I gave my dog the meds for a uti that had red dye in it. She peeded on my new wool rug years ago and it was ruined forever. I didn't know she would pee red. Poor thing.
