Do most parents throw Graduation Parties?

My son is graduating high school and I'm wondering if all the parents now throw their kids graduation parties?

I know we'll take him out to dinner but I'm thinking maybe we should throw him a party?

Husband doesn't think it's necessary or expected?

Anyone have a senior graduating recently or this year?
