I have a closet full of Louis’s polyester tops and dresses and now I have become allergic to all of them. I keep on trying to wear them the materialis prickly and is very uncomfortable. Does anyone else have this problem with polyester or is it just me?

I am allergic to evertything (almost). I have to wear natural fabris or high blends of a natural fabric and no more more than 8% of man made. It's not unusal for your body chemistrsy to change every so many years. It also can be a change in what thread they are using, the origin of the thread or the processing. I hae to get this involved because of my situation. I donate my things to a woman's shelter and buy a lesser amount of replacement items. It's a way I try to declutter that works for me.

I don't think that polyester is an allergen, could be something else, soap, etc

@fresh kitty I don't have the allergy problem with polyester, but feel empathy regarding developing a health issue which prevents you from enjoying something you love. In your case being your lovely Linea polyester clothing.

I am not sure whether it is an allergy, but I have found that I cannot wear polyester or poly/span tops no matter how well made. I get itchy and uncomfortable regardless of the temperature. I think it may be because the fabric is just not as breathable and my skin gets irritated by it. I have also found over the years that my skin is much more sensitive to the weight and feel of jewelry, but that is another topic!

@fresh kitty Have you recently changed bath soap or laundry detergent? This is usually the culprit & not necessarily the fabric.

I guess it’s just old age and sensitivity issues. I had this problem when I was young and now it’s revisiting me again in my old age. Unfortunately all Louis’s clothes are in polyester and I can’t order anymore and will donate what I have. Where do you find natural fabric in this day and age.

I don't do business clothes any more, so the the clothing I buy is more casual and if I'm buying all cotton, its Lands End, LL Bean. but allways read the label. ![]()

Fresh Kitty,
I concur with JustJazzmom. I have had trouble with both laundrey soap and bath soap.
I'd try putting the garments through a cycle or two of just water (no soap or fabric softener) to see if that helps.
Keep in mind that companies do change their formulations from time to time, so your problems might even occur with what you think is the same thing you have always used.
I hope you can continue to wear your beautiful Linea clothing once again.

Try J. Crew, Anthropologie, Boden, Nordstrom, Talbots. There are many stores that carry a combination of polyester clothing and natural fiber clothing.
