FYI Linea Ladies: Martha's Ruana on QVC

[ Edited ]

I know Louis is not doing any of his wonderful WK ponchos or wraps this year... so for anyone looking for a wrap or ruana, this one A301085 from Martha Stewart is amazing. Reviews are great. The fabric is cotton, viscose, nylon & cashmere and at $49.98 is a steal. I purchased it in oatmeal and it's so luxe and substantial. Just fyi...

I had seen this before, I now recall.  For this "brunettish" shorty, the ruana is a no-go.  Yes, the navy and pink might work, but it is too large and pale for me.  The palette looks more suitable for blondes, in my opinion.

It is gorgeous for the someone else but not me.  Darn!

ETA:  Last winter I wanted a warm and large shawl in a jewel tone and ordered one from Amazon.  The color was just what I was searching for, but the bloomin' thing kept shedding its fibers.  I was so disappointed.

Thank you for thinking of us, though.  My manners slipped for a moment.  If I were taller, I'd probably have bought one by now.

GraceCO, I ordered the oatmeal and put the navy on waitlist. I've been spoiled by Louis' navy, so I may not like this one but I'll see. Thanks for the heads-up!

@Helping

You're welcome! I just ordered the navy tonight--it's been out of stock for awhile. Surprised to hear it's on waitlist already. Based on the video, it looks a shade or two lighter than LDO's navy, but pretty, so we shall see. I wanted black as my 2nd color, but that's sold out.

I hope you like it--I was so surprised at the quality & value.

@GraceCO

 You are so right Grace. I bought this ruana in black and I love it! I was so pleased I purchased a second one in pink.and I am not one to buy multiples .

@golding76

 I am 5 ft 1 inches now and it is perfect, not too long, just "generous". I say that because this wrap will cover you completely in the back. Don't you hate it when you wrap one end over your shoulder and suddenly, the darn thing is too short in the back? Not this one, it is truly outstanding.I do agree that some ruanas can overwhelm a petite. A case in point, my daughter gifted me with a stunning EF one in ivory cashmere. Its gorgeous, but it is too long and full for my stature. In fact, I was so thrilled with Martha's, that I tried the EF on again, figuring it would work. Nope, comes down below my knees.. It belongs on an average or tall woman. I highly recommend MS 's version.

About a month ago GMA  deals and steals had a scarf vendor  with some gorgeous selections. Accessory Concierge is the company. The items are a cashmere, wool and acrylic blend. Very thin, no bulk, a great drape and amazingly soft. Impressively soft. 50 x 50 size. I ordered items to compliment our Alabaster,  Fawn, Taupe family,  and a boucle multi colored plaid that is stunning and denim friendly. Everything  I received is exceptionally nice. I will order from this company again and hope they'll repeat their offers on GMA  or The View promos again. I paid, sit down lol, fifteen dollars each and twelve for a black, gray and white 72"x 20ish houndstooth beauty. This deal was a steal.

Now knowing the superb quality...I'll have no qualms sharing a heads up should an Accessory Concierge sale pop up again.

Did anyone else partake?

All this being said, Martha's rhuanas are lovely. I'm all set for now...enjoy yours

I bought the MS ruana in the light heather gray and was fortunate to receive it in black from WL. Agree that these items are fabulous! Outstanding quality, weight and drape. The perfect $50.00-ish gift for the hard to buy for fashionable woman- or me!

I have already posted a review of Martha's Ruana. I have the oatmeal and black and they are gorgeous! I just hope they wear well and don't pill. I don't think anyone would be disappointed in it. It feels so luxurious.

1jac,

Thank you so much for taking the time to give a full explanation of your appreciation for Martha's wrap.  And you are correct; I hate when I can't have the remaining end flip over and cover my back, too.

Knowing that I'm not wild over any of the colors now available, I will wait to see if she offers something more appealing (to me) in the future.  I'm a girl who loves to be swaddled in soft and warm wraps.  So comfy yet so dramatically attractive.

Grace,

Please forgive me for an additional bit of info I am sending to 1jac on this thread, but you and she defended me on this topic when I wrote about it on Louis's blog.  Therefore, I believe I can add this with impunity.  If it ticks off anyone, just do not read it all.

1jac, as a sister Linea Lady of Greek descent, I think you might be interested in the results of further genetic testing some members of my immediate and distant family underwent.  The side being tested was my mother's very large family.  Of the six who have tested, ALL carry not only the "Italy/Greece" markers but also the "Caucasus," "Eastern Europe," "European Jewish (EJ)," "Middle East,"  and "Central and South Asia" markers.  Of course some, such as a third cousin, have only a trace of those markers, but that side indicates these markers from my mother's last remaining sibling (an aunt) to my second and third cousins (third is my first cousin's granddaughter).  The odd thing is that I have a higher percentage of EJ than my mother's sister.  I had thought that genes were "diluted" through the generations.  My older son also tested, and he is "more Greek" than I am.  He is very "Caucasus," though -- much more than I.  I am much more Eastern European than he is.

Need to add that my son, my aunt and I are the only ones of those tested who have both parents of Greek origin.  The others have backgrounds of Great Britain and Western Europe.
