My order for the alabaster faceted necklace shifted from In Process to Backordered. Since Waitlist is available, I'm wondering if my Backorder will be honored before those on waitlist.
If not, I should go on waitlist while it's still available. Of course that would mean two charges on my card, and if they happen to fulfill both on the same day before I caught it, I'd have to pay the return charges on one necklace. What to do, what to do!

@shoesnbags I THINK I have read threads about this before, and supposedly backorders are filled before waitlist. Unfortunately neither are as good as plain old "in process" and "shipped'!!!!!![]()

What is the difference between backorder and waitlist? I ordered the Q2Special Spenco slipon shoe today in Burgundy and it went to "In Process". Couple hours later when I was looking for something else, saw that it was updated to "Backorder". There was no waitlist offered, other sizes in that color were just sold out.
Never had this happen before and wondering what it means and how it works in comparison to waitlist, if there is one offered?
Thanks for any information....appeciate.

That just happened to me with a Halston piece. It started out as "Processing" and then changed to "Backordered". And to order it now it would be "Waitlist". What does that mean? Do they fill "Backorder before "Waitlist"? Thanks @Karlakaye for sharing what you remember seeing. Maybe a MOD will respond on the topic too...

Backorder is more likely to be filled as it is right behind the in process orders.
Example: in process order gets cancelled by a person. The next person on backorder gets the item, until all the backorders are filled. Then the waitlisted orders get filled.
Remember, many people use check order for one size or color and wait to see if the other size or color they put on credit card to arrive is okay. Then they turn around and change the check ordered item to pay by credit card. Credit card ordered items get filled first over check orders and usually arrive to the person before the 14 days (I think it's 14 days) for a person to mail in a check.
Then within 2 weeks of the airing of new items, you may see new colors and sizes back in stock. This is because people have cancelled their check orders and releasing them back to open stock.
I hope this answers a few questions.

I ordered the Linea beach glass necklace when it first became available online and initially the order was listed online as "in process." Then a few days later, it went to "backorder" where it sat for about a week. Then I got a notification that my order was being cancelled by the Q due to insufficient inventory! I was really upset. So "backorder" can become an involuntary cancellation, at least in my experience.

@blinddogs I've had your exact experience in the past, which is why I was worried this time. I did order a second necklace on wait list, just to cover my bases. But after a couple of weeks I received an email saying the back ordered necklace had shipped. At that point I cancelled the WL order. The necklace arrived in perfect condition, so there was a happy ending this time.

I was on waitlist for the bright just in case the mardi gras necklace sold out before I could order it but luckily I got the mardi gras so I cancelled my waitlist order for the bright. I still have the alabaster necklace which I am totally enjoying.
