tons of garlic and salt. do you really cook like that?

it seems to me that every time I watch a TV cooking show, all the chefs use what I consider way too much garlic and salt almost all the time. as for garlic, I know that most people like garlic but my hubby and I really don't and can only tolerate a tiny amount, if any, in food. and salt? wow...most TV chefs put enough salt in their food to float a boat. we like a little salt, but really, not as much as they seem to use.

do most people really cook with that much garlic and salt?
