so.... I had to contact USPS bc a package got stuck during one of its stops and wouldnt move for several days
it took a bit of time to get to a live person but they took down all the info and said my local post office will handle and I will receive a confirmation number and email
sure enough - the local post office called me the next day and there was movement after i spoke to her.... the package received another day later. I have waited on line in that post office ... slow moving so i wasn't expecting much but kudos
UPS - label was created and never moved after receipt - took forever and a day to get a person- it took a really long time bc the prompt kept saying ... before i can connect you to an agent... finally a live person... i dont know if he flagged the tracking number after he sent me an email to report lost package. I had to fill it out as opposed to USPS but the next day - package moved and received 2 days later.
yes we all experience slow shipping and lost packages. I wasnt expecting much after i contacted them and expected results weeks later if ever... so kudos to them
with so many more people than ever to ship packages... i was surprised 24 hrs after contact... things moved along...

UPS doesn't have a clue what they are doing any more. And I have no idea what they are doing with all the packages they are supposed to hand off to the post office--and don't.
And you know they don't because there is no tracking number after it is "delivered" to the USPS.

@Sooner I have no issues with UPS. They get the items to USPS in a very timely manner. Once the package is at USPS you will no longer use the UPS tracking number, somehow it has another USPS tracking number that we are not given with the order. Every order I receive from UPS regardless of online store, my items are received at the post office within about 3 days. Once it's received at my local post office it sits there for a minimum of 2 days and up to 8 more days. THAT is where it sits.
I know it has another tracking number because I receive my Daily Digest from USPS. It will state an item will be delivered with a tracking number I have never been informed about. It always turns out to be a UPS delivery. UPS tracking stops at the USPS because that is the final destination for them. It is then USPS responsibility to deliver the package.

@cjm61 Your area is having different issues than here. What has happened to me is UPS can never account or packages they they mark as "left and no response" which happens when we WERE home and our security cameras show they never stopped or came to the door.
Next thing they say the package was handed off to the post office, but USPS nor UPS has a USPS number to give me. So the driver lies and the package went who knows where. Has happened with more than one driver too.
What a mess but with the volume of packages I'm sure it is more than they can handle. FedEx is like a goose in a hail storm--zipped be the house today going back and forth down the street 3 times in maybe 20 minutes!

@Sooner Oh my gosh. This same thing happened to me over a week ago, but with USPS. On a Sunday I was at my front door, saw the USPS truck pull up our driveway. I thought it so unusual to see any USPS vehicle on a Sunday. I waited at the front door, saw the mailman get out of his truck, walk around it, then get back in. I thought, weird, but oh well, he must have been confused, no package, no biggie.
Later that day I received an email a package was delivered by USPS and "Left at the Front Door" at the exact time I was waiting for him. I double checked all around our front yard and side yard. Nothing. I waited the requested 24 hours before notifying USPS that I did not receive the package and explained it was impossible since I was there waiting.
Well, I received the package today that supposedly was left 9 days ago. My Daily Digest will list all the packages to be delivered and that one never again appeared. It's just really weird, and leaving me very concerned a carrier, any carrier, can state a package was left when it clearly was not. I understand your frustration with UPS. I have great experiences with UPS but I don't doubt you have a different experience.

UPS used to deliver some of my packages (if there was more than one) and not hand them off to the Post Office.
Twice now they haven't done it. I wonder if they decided not to deliver those anymore and just let USPS deliver.

I have to give FedEX, UPS and USPS a lot of credit. I receive packages 7 days a week. Sometimes twice a day. They are working very hard to make deliveries. I appreciate all they do. I understand slip ups happen, but consideration needs to be given to the volume they deliver.
