@rockygems123   Sounds like a fun adventure.  You may be amazed to know that I've already met @SharkE  and her husband, Rick.  Very nice people.

I lost my hubby to a heart attack back in 2002. First thing I noticed was when your hubby dies, so does your bank account.  Guys would come around to want to buy my wheat farm. That was about a month after he died.  They thought I wanted to sell and move to town.  I told them I'm not interested and NO I'm not selling.  They certainly come out of the woodwork.

Yep, everybody wants to tell the widow what to do.  I could move and save money on taxes, but, I feel safe here and to me that's worth a lot.

If I ever find myself in a jam I got the house to fall back on.

@SharkE :  I am so sorry for the loss of your DH.  I was also unaware of this heartbreak for you.  It sounds like you have a plan in place, and I wish you all the best.

@Kachina624

That is great you were able to meet in person.  Was it the earlier days of the board?  I remember hearing something about it was possible / easier to communicate directly in the past.

And yes, I'm ready for a fun adventure.  No travel for the last 2 years is boring lol.

I've had my day in the sun been to England, Scotland,  Wales, Hawaii, did all the  U.S. islands, stayed at the Grand Floridian at Florida DisneyLand.

Stayed at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. Took a cruise ship back when it was safe, to 3 islands.

don't weep for  me.   I've been around. LOL

I got the same thing!  Literally knocking on my door.  I told all of them no.

"Oh, well let us know when you're going to sell."

You'll know when the sign goes up--just like everybody else!

One of the things my husband always had warned me about for years.

Good for you!  You know what's best for you, not anyone else.

I'm sure everyone thinks I'm nuts for staying out out in the country all by myself.  I "should" go running back to the state where my relatives still live. I don't have that much time left to pick up and move to an area where I haven't lived in 45+ years.  And the few relatives I'm still close too will be gone before me and I'll be stuck with family that doesn't have time to spend with each other, let alone me.  And where it snows all winter too!

It's not perfect, but I think I'm better off where I am.  You evidently think the same about your own situation.👍

yeah, it's 6 of one and half dozen of the other. I don't want to move to a apt. where you hear no telling what all night long. Traffic noises, people's kids running amuck, etc.  I'm only 10 min. from Walmart. Neighbors keep to self. All they worry about is keeping lawn mowed. Keeping up with the Jones, etc.

Church will do things for me that I'm afraid to do even though I have more energy then 5 people. I won't climb ladders, period. Got high ceilings so guy from church is at the handy for that. Local Fire Dept. came out and installed all new smoke detectors for me and inserted fresh batteries. I paid for the detectors, labor was free. Tax paid service for the elderly.  I pay a guy to mow and mow the 2 1/2 acres I got. We bought that to insure we would never have neighbors butt end to butt end. I can call on another person to do DVD hooking up or small jobs.

I'm my own boss now.
