Is there such a thing as "stale" rice?

The bag says "Best Before 5/2018", but the bag has been in my kitchen (unopened) for over a year.

I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

To not use it wouldn't even cross my mind.

I once bought a giant bag of Uncle Ben's Converted Rice that lasted for 8 years with no deterioration in quality.  DH worked out of town at the time and I rarely fixed rice when he wasn't home.  It was in Lock n' Locks all that time, so no chance for bug infestation.

no such thing as "stale rice" if uncooked.  Beware of bugs, and rodents.
