I first experienced mulled wine when we were stationed in Germany in the '60s. They call it Gluhwein and it is sold at Aldi's. It's a fairly large sized bottle and sells for about $5.99 if I remember correctly. I look forward to it every winter--a nice warmed mug of Gluhwein beats milk and cookies every time! It is meant to be heated.

what a lovely post, thanks for sharing. I have been wanting to try. There is an aldis real close by, I will take a look.
