I was a diehard Hebrew National fan until a foodie I know and respect recommended Nathan's. To me, they are better.
As a second to Nathan's, I also like the Ball Park Angus franks.

If you want good hot dogs, go to the original Nathans in NYC and/or Coney Island. Add mustard, chili sauce topped w/sauerkraut.
I like my hot dogs split & fried. Doesn't matter which brand I get from the supermarket.

My favorite has always been Wranglers by Homel. They've gradually disappeared from the stores and now aren't available at all. My two patriotic favorites gone.... Wranglers and Blue Bell Ice Cream. So I don't eat hot dogs or ice cream.

That would turn summer into bummer in my neck of the woods. Not that I should eat either, but I can't imagine Fourth of July without dogs.
Since there were so many endorsements of Sahlen's and I think I can get them, I'm going to try them. We can't stop eating whole categories just because stupid manufacturers made bad decisions, IMO. That's just a challenge to find a new fave.

Blue Bell has never returned to New Mexico, right next door to Texas and Blue Bell.

I know right, what a joke. Don't eat hot dogs too much here and only on the grill. Nathan's all beef dogs are the best I can find around here. Bun length too. Works for us, about $5.99 for a pack of 6.

I only have one once a year when my sister in law has a cook out and she buys Hebrew National. It's a guilty pleasure but I never buy them anymore.
