so i am making a pot of beans. set the timer. after it did the time, i wanted to check seasonings and the doneness of the beans.  needs a few extra minutes.

here is the delimma.  when i go to set the timer for a extra 10 minutes, instead of saying HEAT (which it usually does) while building up steam, it just starts the timer, and never pressurizes.

i have tried unplugging and replugging in, nope, what else. should i try to reseat the gasket.

anyone?

@kittyloo

Is gasket resealed?

@kittyloo

Unlock your Instant Pot and lift the lid, checking the inside edge of the lid where the gasket is located. Adjust the gasket as needed, making sure it fits snugly around the edge of the lid and there are no gaps. Now, lock the Instant Pot lid back into place, beginning the pressurizing process again.

@kittyloo

First, check the valve to make sure it is set to the indicator position that says SEALING, not VENTING. If it’s set to the proper position and your Instant Pot has some age on it, use a spoon to touch the pressure release knob from the side, gently adjusting it a bit.

This sometimes helps the knob to slip down into the area where it’s located on the back of the lid. Performing either one (or both!) of these steps will nearly always make your Instant Pot pressurize almost immediately, providing one of the causes listed above in this post isn’t the actual culprit.

@kittyloo,

This is the stage where I leave the lid off, add salt, and let the beans finish cooking in order to have thicker soup.

I ended up letting it cool down. Restarted it. Seemed to work. I've been having issues since my senior moment a few weeks ago. Put all ingredients into pot, then realized the liner pot was on the counter. Oops!

Had to wash and rinse the outer pot. Not recommended.

I agree. What's so difficult about remembering that it's Instant Pot? Just sloppy thinking, I guess.

@Razzy 7 Or being old or having a lot of other things to worry about.  Sometimes bad things.
