flat beater for Kitchenaid mixer

I have a KA mixer that I got at Thanksgiving from Sam's Club. It is a Professional HD 5 quart bowl lift. I have heard about the burnished metal flat beater oxidizing if you put it in the dishwasher so I decided I wanted the white flat beater. I called KA and I was told it was no longer made. The guy then told me that my beater in burnished metal was no longer made. I couldn't believe that as my mixer was only one year old. I then asked for the part # and he told me that it didn't have a part #, they just request it and it gets pulled. He was not very much help at all.

I ordered a beater from Amazon which did not fit but it came with an accessory list and I found the beater I needed and ordered it from Amazon - cost me $12.00 including shipping.

Have any of you had that problem before.

Sounds like perhaps you got someone that didn't know what they were talking about. I have an older 6 QT Pro bowl-lift model and misplaced the flat beater and dough hook when moving. I was able to find compatible attachments on the KA website. I just went and looked out of curiosity and found a nylon coated flat beater for a 5 QT bowl-lift mixer (it fits several different models) for $14.99 so that probably would have worked for you. It's too bad you had to go thru the hassle of ordering a part that didn't fit your mixer, but it's good that you finally found what you needed. There is an accessory and attachment list on their website for future reference. Hope you enjoy your KA, they are great mixers, I love mine.

They have the flex-edge beater on the KA website for $49.99 so you got a better deal at Kohl's.

The first one I got was too big. I guess I have a narrow bowl. That is what I want now is the flex beater.

Recently inherited 20+year old KA stand mixer. KA customer service helped me order parts including white flat beater. I would agree with others that you got someone who didn't know much. Hope you now have what you need. Enjoy your holidays. Peace to all.

Re: flat beater for Kitchenaid mixer

My 30 year plus KA came with a white flat beater that was metal with a white rubbery coating over it. After about 20 years of use, the coating became nicked and moisture got under it and lifted and bubbled the coating. I didn't think this was too sanitary, so I purchased a new flat beater.

They are available for purchase in many department stores and kitchen shops. I now have 2 flat beaters, both are white and appear to be powder coated paint baked on. I always check the KA section when I am in a kitchen store or outlet store and the ones I have are still available for purchase.
