I'm in need of a new crockpot also and have been shopping for it. Never realized it was so hard. Trouble is I want one exactly like the one that I'm replacing (because I roasted it in my oven! I have very limited kitchen space and the only place I could store it was in the oven and - well, do I have to tell you? Yes - I turned the oven on, forgot to take out the crockpot until I could smelling rubber burning!! Second time I've done this - you'd think I'd learn!) Anyway, I can't find a 4.5 qt pot! They're really limited!!!

I highly recommend the Hamilton Beach 6 quart that has the insert that can go over the stove. It can tolerate very high heat and I love being able to use it and not having to dirty up an extra pan. It has really one up in price. I bought it at Costco for $30, but that was a special promotion product at the time. It does not run hot! Love it.
