any good stick blenders?

I just read a bridal registry fom a bride-to-be who wants a Cuisinart stick blender costing 29.99 at BBB. Unfortunately the reviews are so-so. I'd love to include a blender as part of my gift, but I'd like one that would hold up well. How reliable do you think those reviews are or do you have a stick blender to recommend?
