Re: Yuck ! lobster

[ Edited ]

I'm not much of a seafood person. I don't like anything with a strong fish odor, and I would never eat sushi.

As a child I remember my mom and my aunt (she lived with us) bought rolled oysters at a local seafood shop and make their own salmon croquettes. Never touched either. The only fish I ate growing up was tuna salad and cod.

When we started our annual trips to the Gulf Coast in the 90s, my mom and aunt loved getting fresh seafood. Through the years of going to the beach, I bravely tried many things, but only like a few. I can eat tilapia, mahi mahi, fried shrimp, and crab cakes. I had lobster tail once, and I wasn't impressed. Still don't like salmon.

Have a Great Day!

@Carolina925  I haven't had any king crab for a good while. Sadly overfishing and environmental changes, with warming waters has placed them on endangered watch, along with several other crabs. At least, that's the theory.

So KC availability has decreased. I remember visiting my local fish provider and he always had a large freezer full of gorgeous king crab legs, at a more reasonable price, too. Some of the best I ever ate. No longer. He had to close his store, primarily from sourcing issues, with higher purchase cost for him and his buyers, many who stopped purchasing.

It's estimated that more than 10 billion snow crabs met their demise, second to location warming waters, too. This caused their food source to diminish and they simply starved to death. Stores used to have lots of snow crabs in their freezers. No longer. What they do have doesn't look very good, to me.

We're surrounded by so many wake-up calls. We sure need to start listening to them. So unless I see a positive change, it will be a rare occasion now, that I eat KC, or SC. It's sad, for the ocean ecosystem. We need healthy oceans.

We love most seafood. Living on the coast in Maine it does not get any fresher. Lobster, scallops, raw oysters, shrimp, mussels, steamers, octopus are all delicious! I will only eat a few fish, haddock, scrod, Cajun catfish and Italian tuna fish in oil. Not much of a fish eater. So nice to be able to get them fresh and at reasonable prices. Would never pay qvc prices for their frozen seafood .

Cousins Lobster truck will be in my town Friday. They are the men that Barbara Corcoran partnered with on Shark Tank. Their lobster rolls are delicious. Being land locked we don't often get the  opportunity to get fresh lobster. I can't wait. The line will be so long. They've been here before and people are waiting. Like me. I think their prices are reasonable for lobster. This menu isn't from Kansas City. it's just a menu. Their prices may be different. Prices may have gone up. Not sure how old this one is. Does it matter? it's lobstah!

@KCDiva - Enjoy your lobster roll, when you get it.  I don't watch "Shark Tank", but I do remember seeing these two guys who did a deal with Barbara.

If the prices are even close to those shown on that menu, you're getting a deal.

Love lobster.  Been some time since I had some.  Need to look into that again.

As a kid in Boston I would go to the fish market on Friday's for my mother.  All the fish on ice staring at me gave me the creeps.  Mr. Arrington, the owner, would always laugh when I came in and closed my eyes and gave him my order.  To this day I can't eat anything that looks like a body which is most fish, especially lobster.  Oh, and I rather not see a chicken or turkey body either.
